Application management is difficult because code has been written by various sources (outsourced, consultant or internal development). Composite applications further
complicate management because applications are created by linking various pieces together (web servers, databases, web services, etc.).
These "composite applications" require a deeply integrated approach to application management. Monitoring is critial for these applications to ensure service level agreements. A deeper insight into the application
is necessary to understand events across the network and infrastructure to proactivly manage them. [more] Finally, automated correlation of events is necessary to guide the system or operator toward resolution. [more]
